Testimonials

Listed below are just a few of the testimonials that I have received over the years:
Dear Mr. Copley,

We would like you to have this letter for your files.

As you know, we have a very expensive painting that is damaged. The damage is quite extensive. There are two very deep cuts in the canvas, plus bad scratching to the surface and numerous abrasions to the surface.

The painting is by the 19th century painter Alesandro La Volpe.

I was familiar with your work, and I was not apprehensive about giving the La Volpe painting to you. I knew you would do a great job.

You returned the painting on time, and actually better than what I thought it would look like. In addition, you lined the frame molding with felt, and put on a protective backing to the stretcher bars.

In fact, even with the extensive repair work, I am happy to say that the painting did retain its value. To the pleasure of the owner, and all associated at our Mesler’s Auction House.

Sincerely yours,

Sean Morton
Appraiser, Mesler’s Auction House of Scottsdale
I have worked with Mr. Ed Copley through several projects over the past several years. As a restoration expert of domestic European, and one-of-a-kind antiques, I have needed a specialist on several of my own projects that were severely damaged by fire, water, transit abuse, vandalism, or the ravages of time and ill treatment. Mr. Copley has restored silver leaf, gold leaf, moldings, ferrules, and whatever was needed on ornate picture frames, cabinetry, and the like. But the above is just a precursor to Mr. Copley’s skill. His artistic abilities in the restoration of hand painted artwork is second to none. I have seen paintings - once destroyed - restored to their original grandeur. I have watched him duplicate large sections of missing artwork from one-of-a-kind antique art case pianos, and reconstruct the entire hand painted image on ornate furnishings such as hall mirrors and bedroom chest when mere clues remained as to their original design.

In my profession, I rely on Mr. Copley to do what I cannot. Over the past 25 years I have worked with many artisans in this field, but Ed Copley is among the very finest. He is ethical, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. I am pleased to refer his talents to anyone for the restoration of artwork and art frames, frame refitting, duplication, or custom framing.

You will find him as dedicated to your artwork as he is to his own.

Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions.

I have been extremely pleased with the restoration work of Mr. Ed Copley. Our old paintings, some of which date back to the 1400’s, were dirty and colorless. Now they shine with glory. Frames that were falling apart are renewed and all the canvasses are now properly framed.

Ed explained carefully what he needed to do before beginning work on our large family collection of paintings that had been passed down through the years and our family crest that once hung in a castle, it is clear that he is very knowledgeable in his profession. His cost estimates were on target and he completed the work on time. A detailed report including before and after photographs accompanied each painting and frame, in addition, long-term care and maintenance requirements were specified.

In conclusion, I would recommend the work of Mr. Copley to anyone who has art restoration needs. My restored works bring great happiness to our household. I wish you the same.

Sincerely,

Anina Minotto Gadd
Dear Ed Copley,

Thank you for your superior restoration of our paintings and antiques. Your comprehensive record of the work you did will be filed for future generations to use, is greatly appreciated.

We highly recommend you and your work to whom ever it might concern.

Sincerely,

Mr & Mrs James Wells
Dear Mr. Copley,

It is hard to know what to say. When I got home from a two day meeting, the painting was at the office and I opened it as soon as I got home.

I was stunned. Totally amazed. The frame is exquisite. I never knew there were grapes! The painting is so different. Dick got home and we just sat and looked at it. He said it was truly remarkable. I never knew it was raining in the picture. Always just though it was fog. Also never knew that the sun was getting ready to come out in the background. The bright cloud was so dim. The dirt and grime and whatever else was on the painting had been covering up the rain and the brightness of the sun shinning on the cloud. And the trees in the front have such sharp clear trunks….I am so pleased. It is wonderful. Thank you so much Ed. I did not have any idea what to expect but this is beyond anything I had imagined.

Everyone in my office read and looked over the report and accompanying photos and made the before and after comparisons and were as impressed as I. My associate said that she had someone local do a restoration for her several years ago and she received nothing to detail what was done. I am so glad I followed my instincts after speaking with you about doing the restoration and shipping it to you.

Now, I think I need to insure it specifically. While it may not have any real value if I were to sell it due to the lack of a signature, it has a lot of value to me and to my family.

Again, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. It just makes me feel pure pleasure to gaze at it.

Forever Grateful,

Ed Copley was recommended to us by a fellow art collector who was very pleased with Ed’s work. Ed has restored several oil paintings and frames of ours to their original splendor. When he first met with us and we discussed our expectations. He listened intently to our concerns and made detailed notes about each piece. An estimate of the cost and time to complete the project were discussed.

Our paintings were delivered within the time frame and budget discussed. The photographs taken throughout the process showed the amazing transformation of our paintings and frames. With each piece he restored for us, we were provided with a detailed report of the work performed, the photos of the work, and information on how to take care of the paintings.

I have a strong belief that Ed dedicates time and patience to each piece. Nothing is rushed or put together hastily. The professional manner shows in the workmanship.

I would happily refer Ed Copley to anyone who wants a cherished piece of art restored.

Sincerely,

Dennis & Jennifer Decker
Hi Ed,

I took a look at the paintings you restored today and you were absolutely right. They look great. I bought a painting today that needs your expertise. It’s coming from New Jersey so don’t hold your breath as to when it might arrive but you’re the only one I would trust with it.

Thanks again

Howdy Ed!

Joan and I want to thank you again for saving our painting! You truly exceeded our expectations. Terrific job!

Our painting, its' repair, restoration, and new frame have been an anniversary present to ourselves, Joan and I cannot even begin to tell you how happy and delighted we are with the finished product. I believe I told you we sought out Sherry Blanchard Stuart the painting's artist who has a gallery in Old Town Scottsdale. Joan spoke with Sherry on the phone just a day or so after FedEx delivered the painting to us, and it was our impression that she was pleased to hear from us and learn that we were on a mission to rescue one of her earlier works.

When we informed Sherry the painting had been badly damaged she referred us to Ed Copley, of QC Fine Arts, located in Mesa. Ed, in my opinion, is a world class artist in his own right. He is not only a very gifted artist he is also one of the most talented art restorers on the planet.

Joan and I met with Ed Copley at his gallery where he showed us both before and after examples of restoration and rescue work he had just finished that were waiting to be picked up by other clients. Needless to say we were immediately impressed and totally confident that we would be more than satisfied with the results he said he would be able to achieve for us with our painting titled White House. Ed explained the process to us: He would remove all the old varnish from the painting, repair the damaged areas of canvas, perfectly match and repaint the affected areas of the original art work, and then re-varnish the paintings entire surface. On the 8th of March Ed phoned to let us know the painting was ready for us to pick up.

I know I can be obsessive wanting any and everything to meet my standards and expectations, and with that said I have to tell you there is only one word to describe what Ed did for us with the White House painting and the finished product he returned to us. WOW! Beyond WOW Ed simply exceeded our expectation by a mile and then some.

Take care!
